This quote stopped me the other day as I was scrolling through Instagram: Be happy with what you have while working for what you want.
I could not have said it better myself.
Currently, I am in “limbo,” as I am about to begin my health coaching program through IIN, and next Thursday, I audition to teach group fitness classes at UNL next spring. I am taking the active steps to pursue this new passion for real food nutrition and fitness, but I’m right in the middle of the process, when I want to be at the finish line.
However, I have to realize how blessed I am in this current moment while I actively work towards what I want. I have a roof over my head, a loving and supportive family, and almost have bachelor’s degree from a prominent university (December is rapidly approaching!).
Thus, while I may be in “limbo” and find myself impatient about where I am along my journey, I need to take a step back and just breathe. I have so much lined up in the next year, and it will all fall together for me. The process that I am currently experiencing is such a vital part of the journey. It will only serve to help me in my pursuit of my future goals.
Therefore, I remind myself daily: Be happy with what you have while working for what you want.
It's not easy to live happily in the moment, as we always want what we don't have. Therefore, my challenge today for all of us is to focus on where we are currently in our journey, and be happy in the process.
Does this quote apply to your life? What goals are you working towards? Could you stand to focus a tad more on what you currently have, rather than focusing solely on what you may not have yet?
