Wednesday Food for Thought

¨What you think, you become, What you feel, you attract, What you imagine, you create¨

What a powerful message, is it? I want to take the time in today’s blog post to break down this message.

"What you think, you become."

This statement is so true, especially when you consider the power of our mind. Our mental state controls much of our physical state, which is a connection that we often overlook. When our thoughts focus on the negative aspects of our lives, our persona becomes negative. Too often, we focus on what isn’t right in our lives or what we aren’t liking about ourselves. When we constantly berate ourselves with these negative thoughts, we cloud our vision and can’t see who we truly are.

For example, say you are unsatisfied with a certain body part and you constantly compare yourself to others. You may find that it’s all you see when you look in the mirror, and your perception of yourself changes because your mind is so fixated on that one body part!

But, if you take the time to notice other parts of your body that you love, those thoughts will start to cloud out the negative thoughts. When we focus on all the positive in our lives, we start to exude that positivity. Plus, we may find that the positivity we create starts to impact all the other aspects of our lives, like our career, relationships, etc.

Now, obviously, this isn’t easy, otherwise everyone would be doing it! Rather, it takes careful thought to approach each day with a positive mindset, and it will take practice. However, once you become consistent in this positivity, I’m sure you will notice a huge difference!

"What you feel, you attract."

The way you make people feel is your reputation (whether you like it or not!), and you will attract people to or away from yourself based on that reputation. If you are feeling depressed and down on yourself, you will not attract super positive people, energy, or thoughts. Instead, you will start to attract negative energy. However, when you feel upbeat and energetic and make an effort to share that energy, you will attract it that much more! For instance, when you feel confident in yourself, your life, and your abilities, you not only attract other confident people, but you will also receive respect from others.

"What you imagine, you create."

We spend so much of our time thinking about different scenarios for our lives. What will I be doing in a year, five years, twenty years? Will I be satisfied with my life? But how many of these thoughts are positive imaginations, not anxiety-filled, negative imaginations? Much like the first statement, this line challenges us to change our thinking patterns and direct them towards positivity. If we imagine a bright future for ourselves, we will start to take the active steps to create that future. But, if we feel as if we will never be successful and spend our time thinking anxiously about our future, we will create that pattern of anxiety in our lives, career, relationships, and even see it manifest in those around us, like our friends or children.

Final Thoughts

Much of what I discussed today was about the power of our minds, and I encouraged you to focus on thinking positively and celebrating what you love about your life or yourself. However, I know that it is difficult. I struggle with this every day! Who doesn’t have anxious or negative thoughts about themselves? That is totally normal. But, it takes a stronger person to recognize those negative patterns and take the active steps every single day to change that mindset. Journal about it. Put your thoughts out on paper and spend some time each day thinking about your mindset. Talk about it with your friends. See what changes you can make in your mindset. And when you do, I know you will be grateful.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

xoxo Olivia
