Feeling Happy

I don’t know what it’s been lately, but I have just been very happy (which is kind of unlike me!). What is the cause? The fall weather? My probiotic? My strength workouts? The fact that I actually like some of my classes this semester? I’m sure it’s a mixture of these aspects, in addition to many more. Here’s a peek into my week and some insights as to why I may be feeling so happy:

  • I went to the farmer’s market this morning. Needless to say, I was in heaven. Freshly grown, local, colorful produce surrounded me. I stocked up on essentials to get me through the weekend (which included ALL the veggies) and enjoyed an early morning walk downtown in the process.

  • This week I was able to really gather a great amount of information about the nutrition program I plan on starting after college. Long story short, I have decided to pursue a different path after talking to several nutrition and health professionals in Lincoln. I’m super excited about the program offered through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where I will graduate as a certified health coach. I loved the nutrition principles of the Nutritional Therapy Practitioner program which I was originally pursuing; however, the focus on lifestyle factors in addition to the nutritional aspects, is what made me change my mind and decide to start the IIN program in November. I have meetings on Monday and Thursday with two different IIN Certified Health Coaches this week, and I am super excited to gather more information about how they liked the program, as well as how they used their certification here in Lincoln.

  • My group fitness instructor class is amazing to say the least. I love learning about the systems of the body (having never taken anatomy – ever!) and how I can lead a class properly. I had the opportunity to try on the instructor microphone and lead the class through a 1-2 minute mini workout. It was so fun to put my skills into practice. I was the only one who would volunteer to try the mic, and I really felt comfortable and at ease in the position.

  • My old phone, which was pretty much a grandma at this point, was replaced yesterday. I had an iPhone 4S that I’ve had since 2012, before I came to college. Let’s just say even the smallest task took forever on my phone and it didn’t like to charge all the way anymore. So, it was time for an update. However, because my brother took my phone upgrade a few months ago (by mistake he claims – I’m not sure about that, but that’s what happens when you send two farmers, my dad and my brother, to the “big” city), I had to wait until his line was due for an upgrade. After an hour and a half at the Verizon store, and basically a new best friend in the salesman that helped me (there was a LOT of waiting and so we just started talking about football and life), I walked out with a shiny new iPhone 5S. Yes, you read that right – 5S. If you read my last post, you know that I really don’t like change, and going from a 4S to an iPhone 6S would’ve been too much of a shock!

  • Last but not least, I have the best mom in the world. No need for further explanation – she knows why :)

Well, that’s my life right now in a nutshell. God is so good to me, I’m happy, feeling strong and healthy (love those weights!), and cannot wait for my meetings this week so I can get more information about IIN. Now, it’s time to turn my attention to the most important part of my Saturday: THE HUSKER FOOTBALL GAME!

How was your week? What makes you happy? Let me know below!
